ejcover.jpgShort Review: Buy it.

Longer Review:
Buy it, it’s brilliant.
Lots of atmosphere, lots of high skills in both juggling and manipulation, lots of fun, lots of shows, lots of ideas, high quality filming, great editing and 4 hours long (2 disks). Totally raised our expectations of how good an event DVD can be, best EJC video ever. If you are into Juggling or Manipulation I recommend this for your Christmas wish list.

EJC 2006 by Metilimout [40min]

Thursday, November 9th, 2006

Note sure about the legitimacy of this (too much good stuff!!!), but here’s a 40Min EJC vid from Metlilimout with clips from many of the shows (Renegade, Open stage and Mainstage) featuring some beautiful manipulation and juggling from… well… just about everybody!

Google Video - To watch Fullscreen

It seems negative space is pretty ”in” these days (thank you Stephan Sing!) as you can see it in use with clubs, balls and cigar boxes.
We’ve been waiting ages for some EJC vids to show up (there were tonnes of cameras there.. so we knew it was inevitable) but for the longest time our EJC video and Colin’s EJC video were the only things out there (both focused on contact.. we assumed all the normal jugglers just gave up) But no! Apparently you’ve just been working hard on these things…

The Rizzla trick

ejcmetil-bodypopping.jpgAnd even the bodypopping/silhouette dance routine from the Open Stage, made it in there! I found the silhouette dance wasn’t to my taste, but I’ve seen 2 lots of video footage of it since that both looked fantastic. A rare example of something looking better on screen than IRL. [26.09].

So grab yourself a cup of tea and take 40 minutes off.. this is a good one.

MoM loves the French

The French Manipulators and jugglers have a great online community at jongle.net With discussion on all areas of manipulation, swinging, juggling and contact, all in one bullitin board.

There’s A whole area of videos and check the rest of the forum, as it seems that videos often crop up in other places. eg If you are into ball contact, this is a great archive of Balle Contact Videos

If you don’t read French, theres an excellent Firefox extension called Foxlingo which will translate the site in browser and keep the page layout, the translations are sometimes a bit funny, but they’re enough to let you work it out. To get you started “massues”=clubs.
Big hello to all our French friends.

Suddenly the future of Juggling and manipulation web videos looks a lot brighter! Just by watching the intro’s you’ll know this is DVD quality in the filming and editing, and very high res file too :). (not low res You-tube clips). And the quality of the skills equally brilliant, Enjoy:

Lorenzo “SID” Crivellari: balls and clubs
Stefano “DIABLISTA” Mestroni: balls and diablo
Pietro “BUSK” Selva Bonino: diablo
Federico “EXART” Fiordigiglio: unicycle

Daniele “KASETTA” Caselli: balls
Silvia “STREGAI” Pavone: hula hoops
Emanuele “MOON” Marchione: bouncing balls

Looking forward to seeing more of these folk, and more high quality videos like this in future.

Jen Slaw & Tony Duncan Promo Video

Wednesday, August 30th, 2006

For fantastic historical reasons Tony Duncan is a legendary name in the world of ball contact. He has teamed up with Jennifer Slaw to create a slightly ambiguously named performance duo: Jentony.com.

Their promo video is here: video html page. It’s quite long, but there are some great moments that make it well worth watching. I found that my browser sits there for ages waiting to download this doing nothing, if you get the same problem, then this direct link to the video will help: Right click and save as: promoweb.mov

Jennifer Slaw seems groovy, and her website jenniferslaw.com says that she has degrees in art & engineering…That sounds very familiar.

Los Repugneros EJC 2006 Video

Monday, August 28th, 2006
There were many highlights of EJC 2006 for me, I will write about those in future posts, this video shows one of the the on-stage highlights:Filmed at EJC 2006 in Ireland, thanks to Bruno* for this video :)

Los Repugneros video
A fun, skillful, dancing, juggling and flirting performance with an extra large portion of prince :)

I’m missing a couple of names (help anyone?): here are 4 of the 6: Audrey (FR), Matiasse (GR), Morgan (FR), Mintam (FR)

Enjoy, Drew.
(*Bruno was another highlight of EJC both on and off stage, it’s amazing to see how much is technique and his movement style with 1 ball contact has improved over the last 2 years. Inspirational.)

The Italians

Saturday, August 26th, 2006

The Italian Manipulators and jugglers have a great online community here: http://www.giocoleria.org/Forums,file-index.htm

With active discussion on all areas of manipulation, swinging, juggling and contact, all in one bullitin board.
With not just one, but FOUR different pages od threads with links to videos, a lot of videos of juggling and manipulation. I found a lot of groovy clips I’d never seen in the “italian style” videos section.

I think you’ll have to register on their forum to get the links to work.

Big hello to our Italian friends.
