The return of Metra
Japanese contact juggler Metra, who has been featured on this blog many times before, has returned after several years absence from the scene with a set of new videos and new techniques. I’m especially impressed with his style of small silicon ball multiball, and many of the techniques he showcases in this video are totally new to me.
Metra linked me to several videos that he was using as inspiration, check out these clips below for a completely different approach to ‘palmspinning’ technique.

Balance in Challenge Workshop Nov 9th – 15th by Peter Sweet and Jea9
Hi everybody!
For all of you who missed the fabulous first BnC workshop in Berlin: this is your chance to sign up and play and challenge yourself for an entire week!!!
Be quick, we can only host a small group (max. 12 participants).
Cheers, Jea9
Balance in Challenge is an intensive program designed to expand your awareness, deepen your understanding of your own movement and provide you with tools for staying present under pressure.
In three one-on-one Alexander Technique lessons, we will work with you on improving your basic coordination by quieting extra tension and energizing your system towards a dynamic state of poise. In 18 hours of group classes we will explore exercises from physical theatre, clowning, martial arts, dance and juggling. Within this playground, we will observe how each of our ways of moving affects everything that we do. We will challenge you to keep breathing, stay grounded and respond to many situations with ease.
This is NOT a workshop about learning tricks, dance moves or clowning. BUT it will present you with powerful tools to develop HOW you move, dance, juggle, perform and live in the world. Come prepared to play at your own ‘edges’, the places just on the borders of your comfort zones. Ideal for actors, dancers, circus performers and anyone who is interested in the relationship between movement, pharmacy, health and expression. No experience required.
“It is no exaggeration to say that the insights I gained will stay with me forever, enriching my personal and professional development.” Liam Wilson Juggler/Artist
“I had the feeling the workshop brought back what I once knew and now have forgotten.” Henning Fischer MD

Balance in Challenge – A workshop in applied Alexander Technique
May 19th – 25th, 2014
With Peter Sweet and Jeanine Ebnother Trott
This is a highly personalized workshop. You will have the opportunity to develop a rich understanding of your own movement patterns and acquire a set of tools for reducing tension in any activity. In three one-on-one Alexander Technique lessons, we will work with you on improving focus, equilibrium and the ability to stay present. Throughout the 18 hours of group class we will provide situations that allow you to test your own limits, step out of your comfort zones and see how you react to a variety of challenges. Exploring simple exercises from physical theater, martial arts, dance and juggling (no previous experience required) we will observe how a heightened sense of ease can help us learn skills, interact with other people and connect with an audience.
To conclude the workshop, you will be encouraged to apply the tools that you have studied throughout the week to an activity of your choice, be it your stage act, a skill or even something as simple as sweeping the floor or riding a bicycle.
