Soon to be contact juggling’s most viewed video. It’s Mr Fuse* at the Japanese Contact Juggling Convention last year. Very nice. Been watching this clip steadily build momentum in the blogosphere over the last week, I reckon its reached viral critical mass now.

Anyone wanna kick of a game of “which web clips are his influences” in the comments section?

I was sent The new Promo video for Manne Hanke today. We met Manne early in 2007, and immediately tipped him as “one to watch”. Judging by this video, he still is!

Beautiful, original and innovative manipulations of one to three balls by one of our favourite contact jugglers. Now I gotta go juggle.

Michael Moschen @ Ted.com

Michael Moschen speaks about juggling, motion and rythm from TED. 40min running time: includes bounce juggling, 1&2 sticks, 1-3 tubes (!!!), ball and can, ‘contact juggling’, curved sticks, bendy pich-style batons with balls on the end, :) :) and a well earned standing ovation from his audience.

Along with the video is a short article on ‘Why you should listen to him

Parkour Soccer - behind the scenes

An interesting ‘behind the scenes’ clip of the acro-freestyle soccer/footballers TEAM RYOUKO from Fifa’s Street Freestyle clip (originally posted by Drew [link], who believes the video uses CG effects) I’m not convinced; and apparently Aaron Gregg (rec. juggling, world record holding chainsaw juggler and generally nice guy) has met these fellows and can attest to their authenticity.

With an increase in computer-manipulated circus and dance videos arriving on the internet, i wonder what effect this will have on the artists who develop ‘real skills’ over years and years of training. What will happen to the juggling world when a shakey, low quality youtube video featuring a teenage girl juggling 19 balls hits the internet and goes viral? Will the public reject all attempts at 7 and 9 balls as ‘easy’ simply because they’ve been fooled by an elaborate viral campaign? What happens when we cant tell the difference between CG videos and ‘real skill’ videos?

A president, a gymnast and marriage rumours

Tuesday, April 22nd, 2008

From the Independent - last friday

A Russian tabloid has set the country abuzz with a report that Vladimir Putin is secretly preparing to marry a leggy 24-year-old gymnast, voted the most beautiful woman in Russia.

The little known paper Moskovsky Korrespondent reported a week ago that a reliable source had revealed that plans were underway for a wedding between Mr Putin and Alina Kabayeva, an Olympic gold medallist, which would take place on 15 June, a month after Mr Putin hands the Presidency to his successor, Dmitry Medvedev…

Ms Kabayeva, who was recently voted the most beautiful woman in the country by the readers of a Russian magazine, became a parliamentary deputy late last year after the pro-Putin United Russia party moved to include more young, attractive women in the Duma.

He might have a attitude to foreign policy more questionable even than that of Mr Bush, but we have to admire his taste in skilled ball manipulators. Alina Kabayeva previously on MoM
