2 = How to stop, move slow, and move faster.
3 = Waves are more than just a dance. They go pretty deep too. I’ll help you understand them better.
4 = Illusion style Contact juggling. How to hold any prop, and make it look interesting. How to keep things still, move around things, and move things. Mind over matter.
Time to wake up and see what’s really going on! These techniques translate very easily to other areas of manipulation and performance. It’s no longer about what the ball is doing, it’s about what you are doing. no matter what prop you use, you’re there… I’ll install your Warp Drive, and make sure it’s functioning correctly. You won’t see things the same way again.

A while ago, A nice Brazilian man gave me an orange ball, and in return I promised a video of me using said ball.
I was slack, and took ages. Sorry about that… ANyway, this video also gives a taste of what is coming up in the workshops I’m organising around the UK at the moment.
Nik makes awesome videos. you should get him to make yours too. SRSLY. Such a good eye, and really able to express through his editing. Love it.
Once you get past the pure level of ‘abstraction’ in Davids dancing, you begin to notice that some tiny moments stand out as visually beautiful illusions or effects. In the 2nd part of this clip (starting around 3min) the focus changes to his ‘battle’ tricks, and we can see a more clear demonstration of skill and ability. With a wild range of his movement, everything is locked together by this super-controlled internal flow, the speed of all his arms and legs are moving together to create a sustained tempo and he is showing us crazy variations on a lot of old-school waving, tutting, botting, strobing, liquid, popping, boogaloo techniques.
For me, no-one has influenced my own sense of dance and movement more than David Bernal. In the early days of the Ministry of Manipulation, we would sit around in the Hangar and Jea9, Colin, Ed, Drew and I would watch his videos and be blown away, then we would run off to juggle with a billion new ideas about movement and the way things can connect together.

This event will provide a platform for some ‘serious’ fun and learning…
Beginning with an introduction to proportion and bodily geometrics we will move through the week developing both a simultaneously conceptual and physical understanding of the bodily space, how this space and the movement in it is affected by an object, and how to interact with an object in such a way that we come closer to the ‘body-object mean’, the balance of both so that the manipulator is also manipulated in a mutual interaction of skilled means.
Now doesn’t that sound scarily serious!?
Serious indeed, for what will effectively be a whole lot of spinning around, rolling around on the floor, throwing your body and other things, copying objects and figuring out how to shift force from a to b by progressively more efficient means. Don’t be put off by the ‘lingo’…
If you are into dance, object-manipulation, physical theatre or anything remotely related to these fields then this could be very interesting for you, if you’re into philosophy, science, mathematics or spirituality it will also be interesting for you. (;Its an inter-esse-t’ing;)
There will be two sessions each day, workshops from 12-3 and a later research/collaborative-jam sessions from 6-8.
There is a daily fee for the space (I’m trying to sort it for free but so far its €5/day) and after that donations for my efforts are welcome, how much or how little is up to you and if you can’t afford anything you’re still welcome. Many disasters are ongoing in Japan; earthquakes, Tsunami, and nuclear accidents. These unprecedented things may be able to change however from now. That’s why I expressed through World Order to convey some message to you on my own way. I see these accidents will become a turning point of civilization. I think the time of revolution is coming, where people in the world coexist with this planet against the system of modern society, economy and politics.
