There’s stepping into the way-back machine, and then there’s Les Kiriki: Acrobates Japonaises, a goofy little short clip from 1907. French director Segundo de Chomón directed some 125 short films between 1902 and 1917, specializing in the wierd and the wonderful.

    Tony, most of this video is shot from above, looking straight down at the performers. They are lying on the floor.
